he Portland metropolitan area has historically had a significant LGBT population throughout the late 20th and 21st century. In 2015, the city metro had the second highest percentage of LGBT residents in the U.S. of residents identifying as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender, second only to San Francisco. Portland held it's first gay pride in 1975 on the Portland State University campus. It's also known for it's hipsters and being the least religious city in the US.
