Nate Silver Leaves The New York Times For ESPN

By Alex Panisch

Stats wiz-kid, Nate Silver—you know, the guy who called the entire 2012 election—is leaving The New York Times for ESPN. The Out 100 member’s website, FiveThirtyEight, will now be hosted by the Disney owned sports network. He will also contribute regularly on ESPN.

According to the Powerlist member's twitter, while FiveThirtyEight will be expanding to cover sports, culture, economics, and science and technology, it will still provide “plenty of election coverage.” He assured his followers that FiveThirtyEight will be similar to Grantland, a sports and pop culture website owned by ESPN, in that it will have an “independent editorial point-of-view.” In a statement given to ESPN, Silver says that his new gig is “his dream job.”

What do you think? Are Silver’s talents being wasted at ESPN or is this the perfect vocation for our favorite gay geek?
