Live the Life: John Lennon

By Out.com Editors

Photography by Koji Yano

John Lennon’s legacy reaches beyond the realm of music. By the late 1960s, the Beatles front man had become increasingly involved in the anti–Vietnam War movement. He penned the protest anthem “Give Peace a Chance” and confronted the Nixon administration head-on. After marrying Yoko Ono, he left Europe for New York and adopted a more down-to-earth style, swapping the suits of his Beatlemania years for denim and workwear and donning army shirts with his turtlenecks and iconic circular specs. Poet and style icon, Lennon defined a generation and never ceased to inspire.
