Gay Agenda: 10 Things We're Eyeing In January

By Stacy Lambe

1. Maggie Smith on Downton Abbey

God love Maggie Smith as the Dowager Countess of Grantham who throws more shade than a library full of drag queens. While she may have softened a bit in season 3 (dead characters will do that to ya), we know she’ll be back with plenty of quips and sass she has in season 4. (Jan. 5, PBS)

2. The Inevitable Backlash Over Chozen

It's bound to happen. Most everyone will all find a reason to be offended by the show a drug-using, sex-having, openly gay white rapper fresh out of prison. But it's terribly funny and should be watched before making a snap judgment. (Jan. 13, FX)

3. Name That Extra on Looking

We can't say enough good things about HBO's Looking. However, each week there seems to be a new character that can only be described as "Man in Woods" or "Male Stripper." And part of the fun is guessing who is playing what before the end of the episode. (Jan. 19, HBO)

4. The Golden Girls Musical

Starting Jan. 8, Thank You For Being A Friend returns for a limited 6-week run. Our favorite blue-haired ladies take on Ricky Martin in a battle of the neighbors. It’s like Battle of the Roses with singing, dancing and lots of gay sex jokes. (Jan. 8 – Feb. 12, The Laurie Beechman Theater)

5. Zac Efron's R-Rated Side

Between That Awkward Moment and Neighbors (with Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne), Zac Efron is about to have one adult year. It promises to be full of dildos, gratuitous ass shots and sex scenes -- not that we're complaining. (TAM: Jan. 31, Neighbors: May 9)

6. LOL-ing With Our BFF at G.B.F.

After nearly a year of making the rounds at film festivals, G.B.F. is finally hitting theaters. So it's time to grab your BFF, Fag Hag or Fruit Fly and get your '90s teen comedy-inspired laughs on. (Jan. 17)

7. Christina Aguilera Replacing R. Kelly on "Do What U Want"

Following a stellar performance on The Voice, Lady Gaga has officially replaced R. Kelly on her '90s R&B sex jam, "Do What You Want." While we're not sure if it's to do with all the controversy surrounding the singer, it's a smart move for both singers... How long before these two release a duets album? (Out now, iTunes)

8. Amy Poehler & Tina Fey's Tag-Teaming the Golden Globes

While it's easy to debate the merits of the Golden Globes, they at least did one thing right: The show brought back Amy Poehler and Tina Fey for a second go at hosting. The pair has quickly become our generation's Abbott and Costello. (Jan. 12, NBC)

9. The Return of Community's Dean Pelton

Season 5 of Community marks the return of the show creator Dan Harmon and we couldn't be more excited. However the real star is Jim Rash, who plays Greendale's (possibly gay) Dean Pelton. His penchant for pun costumes announcements keeps us coming back each week. (Jan. 2, NBC)

10. Angel Haze's Dirty Gold

After leaking her album and then taking it down, Angel Haze has officially released Dirty Gold online. While others continue to delay their album, Haze is making good on her promise to deliver new music in 2014. (Out now, iTunes)
