These are the nerdy bits of news that had us geeking out this week.
“And the Tree Was (Not) Happy”
Check out Teen Wolf’s Tyler Posey as he gets his scream queen on in Funny or Die’s movie parody trailer The Giving Tree — based on Shel Silverstein’s classic children’s book. With taglines like “sometimes it’s better to give than receive” and a shot that makes it seem like the tree is sporting morning wood at the 0:24 mark, this campy vid is full of LOL moments for gay fans.
In a Galaxy Even Further Away…
The original draft of Star Wars was vastly different from the iconic space opera we’ve come to know and love. Dark Horse Comics has decided to adapt that early vision of George Lucas into an eight-issue comic series — featuring a silver-haired daddy version of Luke Skywalker — which will give us a peek at a galaxy far, far away as it was even longer ago. Take a look at the teaser trailer below.
As if You Needed Another Reason to Love Andrew Garfield
In case you missed it during the deluge of geeky news that flowed from Comic-Con International this year, this clip of Andrew Garfield during the Amazing Spider-Man 2 panel addressing his comments about the possibility of a gay Spider-Man is a must-see for any gay geek.
Sorry geeks, these aren’t the real deal, but artist Balazs Sarmai as given us a look at what a line of sex toys based on Marvel’s The Avengers might look like if Disney really wanted to enter into an untapped (giggle) area of film/comic tie-ins. Would you rather wield the mighty hammer of Thor, make playtime patriotic with Captain America, or simply “smash” with the Hulk? Check out the full line at Sarmai’s blog.
