These are the nerdy bits of news that had us geeking out this week.

Judge Dredd is gay?
Judge Dredd “might be” the latest superhero to kick down the closet door according to The Sun. A preview from next week’s 2000 AD shows the kickass lawman locking lips with a young man in a gay club. For some reason, many fans are throwing a hissy over the possibility that a beefy superhero with a thing for chains and leather might be a homosexual. (The mind boggles.) However, leather daddy lovers shouldn’t get their hopes up just yet. The comic’s creators have said readers should expect a twist in the story, titled “Closet”, and things may not be what they seem. I’m putting my money on the kiss being a fantasy of the young man in the story and nothing more, but with that costume there isn’t a gay comic fan out there who wouldn't pick Dredd off the homo tree in a second.
Check out the controversial preview below.
Meet Superman’s New Gal Pal, Jenny Olson
Rumors are flying faster than a speeding bullet that Superman’s pal may be a gal in the new Man of Steel movie. Buzzfeed reports IMDB may have let one of the casting cats out of the bag by listing actress Rebecca Buller as “Jenny Olson” in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman flick. If Jimmy really has become Jenny, I’m sure I won’t be the only fan who will miss the bromance between Clark and the twinky photographer, but adding more diversity to the Superman mythos is a welcome change. It will be nice to see another strong female character in addition to Lois Lane running around the streets of Metropolis.
And for the record, this isn’t the first time Jimmy’s gotten in touch with this feminine side.
J.J. Abrams Is Jumping Starships
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Star Trek director J.J. Abrams is in final negotiations to helm Star Wars: Episode VII. Though neither Abrams nor Disney have confirmed the news, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that J.J. gets the job. After all, if he can do for Wars, what he did for Trek, we may have less of a disturbance and more of a celebration in the Force. Is it too early to hope for at least one LGBT jedi?
UPDATE: Looks like it’s official. J.J. will be directing Star Wars Ep. 7.
The Gay Action Hero on Spartacus Is Back Again
I had the chance to chat with the hunky Dan Feuerriegel (Agron), of Spartacus: War of the Damned for The Advocate earlier this week about playing one of TV’s first gay action heroes, surviving boot camp, and preparing for those infamous same-sex love scenes. Get all the dish on the show's gay romance before the final season's premiere episode airs tonight on Starz at 9PM.
Bronies Are Magic
I don’t pretend to fully understand the Brony culture that the current My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic series has spawned, but the below video is an adorable and totally awesome explanation.
