Kick-Ass 2 Serves Sexy Superhero Realness
Director Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass is one of the few superhero flicks that nailed the source material on the first try. Based on the comic book of the same name by Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr, the film is an excellent balance of action, drama, and comedy that managed to stay true to its roots while remaining accessible to those unfamiliar with the characters.
Thankfully, it appears the creative minds behind the franchise haven’t changed their approach for the upcoming sequel — they’ve only made it better. How? Check out the red band trailer for Kick-Ass 2 below and try to keep your tongue in your mouth when the shirtless shots of the film’s freshly-ripped star, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, flash across the screen.
The Amazing Amazon Soars in New Documentary
Wonder Women!: The Untold Story of American Superheroines is a new documentary by Kristy Guevara-Flanagan that “traces the fascinating evolution and legacy of Wonder Woman. From the birth of the comic book superheroine in the 1940s to the blockbusters of today.” Scheduled to air Monday, April 15 at 10pm ET on PBS, "Wonder Women! goes behind the scenes with Lynda Carter, Lindsay Wagner, comic writers and artists, and real-life superheroines such as Gloria Steinem, Kathleen Hanna and others, who offer an enlightening and entertaining counterpoint to the male-dominated superhero genre.”

X-Men Cast Revealed?
Out director Bryan Singer continued to amp the excitement surrounding X-Men: Days of Future Past by tweeting a photo of a bulletin board filled with headshots of the film’s cast members. Fans will certainly get a jolt of joy from seeing several favorites in the photo. However, an interesting observation is the fact that several characters from the previous films appear to be missing. Could this be the full list of Marvel’s mutants who will be making an appearance in the upcoming big screen crossover, or is Mr. Singer just teasing us again?
The Super Appliance Every Gay Geek Needs
Talk about holding out for a hero. I can’t count the number of times I’ve wished for a superhero just like this one. However, given the frequency with which I get my partner to iron my shirts for me, I’m sure he’d love to see this type of super hardware around the house even more. I wonder if his abilities include folding laundry as well?
Star Wars: The Clone Wars Is Cancelled
This week, Lucasfilm announced some sad news. Not only has Seth Green’s upcoming comedic animated series Star Wars: Detours been delayed, but the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been cancelled as well. However, all is not gloom and doom for fans yearning for more animation from a galaxy far, far away. The company is currently looking into new animated projects and promises The Clone Wars will tie up loose ends in the future in some way. This could mean a direct to DVD movie is in the works, but as Master Yoda might say, clouded, The Clone Wars future is.
Check out the video from Supervising Director Dave Filoni talking about the new direction for Lucasfilm animation and the reasons for the show’s cancellation below.
