The flamboyant artist formerly known as The Artist Formerly Known as Prince may no longer be a literal symbol of insanity, but he still stresses us out.
We can't even begin to imagine standing in the shoes of veteran music critic Gail Mitchell, whom Prince told couldn't record or take notes during their recent interview for a Billboard cover story. Of course, those unusual demands no doubt helped make the profile legendary — and with its offbeat talk of Prince's team of black lady lawyers and his weird phobia of elderly people, the article was ripe to be picked apart by Gawker. He also takes unnecessary jabs at Maroon 5 and Madonna.
OK, but what about the music?
His Royal Weirdess has taken to his website to release an eye-poppingly psychedelic lyric video for a falsetto-free new song called "Screwdriver," which is actually pretty awesome, especially if you're into old-school Lenny Kravitz. The double-entendre chorus of “I’m your driver, you’re my screw” might actually be his catchiest in ages.
Sure, the man's cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, but we're digging the tune. Check it out below and let us know what you think.
