UPDATE: The "gay" dog has been saved!
When a man from a Jackson, Tennessee saw his male pit bull hump another male dog, he dumped the pit bull in an animal shelter because he didn't want a "gay" dog.
Nevermind that dogs regularly hump things (like legs, stuffed stoys, furniture and other dogs all the time) regardless of their sexual orientation — it's a way of showing dominance (ie. "I'm so tough that I'll hump anything into submission!").
The dog is set to be euthanized today at 1 o'clock unless it gets adopted. If you want to help save it, click on the link above and talk with the shelter.
But talking about gay dogs, actor Zachary Quinto recently released a short Kickstarter-funded film called "Dog Eat Dog" based on his own experience of adopting a dog for the first time.
Being openly gay himself, it's likely that Quinto disapproves of abandoning "gay" creatures to die alone in the animal equivalent of a jail.
Quinto said, "Our goal was to make an entertaining short film inspired by my outlandishly humorous — but true — experience of trying to adopt a dog for the first time. But we also want to raise awareness about pet rescues and inspire people to rescue their new pet instead of buying one. There are so many beautiful dogs that need homes ... the heart of this story is how much joy — and humor — can exist in trying to find the right match."
