Remember Cruising, the 1980 Al Pacino movie, where a person was picking up gay men and murdering them?
Yeah well, the same thing may be happening in current day New York City, only in real life.
After the murders of two openly gay, middle-aged men in Queens, New York City Council member Daniel Dromm thinks a serial killer might be to blame.
According to a report in The Advocate, "neither crime scene showed forced entry, so police suspect that the victim went to the rooms willingly with their killer(s)," suggesting that the men may have been hooking up. Dromm has even gone so far as to caution men "when using online dating services and when meeting someone for the first time."
Pretty scary stuff.
It could turn out that these two murders are unrelated, but it never hurts to slow down and do a little basic research on a person when meeting up: confirm they're a sane person with a digital trail, maybe even alert a friend with your hook-up's contact info before meeting them.
Masturbation's also good too.
Be safe out there, boys.
