Slain Baltimore Trans Women Was Sibling to NBA Star

By Parker Marie Molloy

Last week 26-year-old transgender woman Mia Henderson was found murdered in an alley on Baltimore's northwest side. Shortly after news of her death became public, 23-year-old Los Angeles Clippers player Reggie Bullock revealed on Twitter that he and Henderson were siblings.

Bullock starred in college at the University of North Carolina from 2010 through 2013 before being selected by the Clippers with the 25th overall pick in the 2013 NBA draft. Bullock appeared in 43 games for the Clippers during his rookie season, averaging 9.2 minutes and 2.7 points per game.

Referring to Henderson by her given name and calling her his "brother," Bullock issued a quick series of tweets, praising his sibling for helping him realize the importance of living a genuine life and to not care what others think. Bullock thanked his fans and followers for their outpouring of support.

Henderson's death occurred just one month after Baltimore trans woman Kandy Hall was murdered. Police have yet to name any suspects in either of these cases.

According to Bullock's Twitter account, services will be held for Henderson Thursday at 2 p.m. at United American Free Will Baptist Denomination Headquarters, located at 1011 University St., Kinston, N.C.
