Pop triple-threat Jessie J, Nicki Minaj, and Ariana Grande team up for one of the best anthems so far this year. The new song is the first single from Jessie J’s latest album due out this fall, and will also appear on Grande’s sophomore album, My Everything, available August 25. High-energy and showcasing each diva’s own vocal chops, "Bang Bang" will be playing on repeat for the remaining weeks of summer. — Scott Ragan

9. FILM: Getting Go, the Go Doc Project
They say you should never meet your idols, but what happens when that idol is dancing almost naked right next to you at a bar? In the film Getting Go, college student Doc (Tanner Cohen) thinks he is living a dream-come-true when he meets his longtime obsession, a New York go-go dancer (Matthew Camp) that he's admired from afar. But things get complicated after he begins shooting a documentary about the dancer, and the pair become entangled in more than Doc bargained for. Directed by Cory Krueckeberg, Getting Go is now available to buy or stream online at WolfeOnDemand.com. — Daniel Reynolds

8. EVENT: Charleston Pride
Despite news that South Carolina's attorney general will keep defending the state's discriminatory ban on same-sex marriage after a federal court struck down a similar ban in Virginia, LGBT South Carolinians will take to the streets of downtown Charleston this weekend to show their Pride. The fifth annual Charleston Pride Festival Parade steps off at 9 a.m. Saturday from Wragg Mall at the intersection of Meeting and Ann streets, then winds its way to a conclusion at Broad St. and Lockwood Blvd. Saturday's parade and Pride Rally (at Brittlebank Park) serve as the bookend to a week of proud celebrations that included film screenings, a beach party, and, on Saturday night, the Official Charleston Pride After Party, starting at 9 p.m. at Mad River. Get tickets for the after party here, and check out the full weekend's schedule here. — Sunnivie Brydum

7. FILM: Around the Block
Directed by Sarah Spillane, Around the Block stars Christina Ricci as Dino Chalmers, a teacher who finds she won’t be teaching just Shakespeare in Sydney’s impoverished Redfern district. Many of her students are Aboriginal, and one in particular, Liam (Hunter Page-Lochard) has a talent for acting that Chalmers strives to foster. But Liam, whose father is in jail and whose brother is seeking vengeance for a dead uncle, has demons of his own to overcome. Around the Block premieres August 1 at the Arena Cinema in Hollywood, and LGBT audiences may also delight in the romantic interest of Ricci’s character, played by model Ruby Rose. — Daniel Reynolds

6. EVENT: Top Rock

Rick Worley’s A Waste of Time is anything but. The new black-and-white comic from Northwest Press is as smart with its sassy commentary on the current state of pop culture consumption as it is laugh-out-loud funny. Following the misadventures of Rick the cartoonist rabbit — whose plans for success are routinely sidelined by those of his own creations, which include a coke-addicted teddy bear and a broken robot among their ranks — A Waste of Time is nothing short of a gay ol’ time. Pick up a copy at Northwestpress.com. – Jase Peeples

3. TV: Running Wild with Bear Grylls
After showcasing his survival skills in Man vs. Wild, Bear Grylls will take other celebrities on wild adventures through treacherous terrain in the new series Running Wild with Bear Grylls. The show debuted last week to a sea of gay gasps as the hunky host was joined by an equally sexy — and shirtless — Zac Efron. If you missed this double-dose of abs and amazing adventure, you can still catch it online before the second episode, this time with Zoolander star Ben Stiller, airs August 4 on NBC. With additional stars scheduled to appear, including Channing Tatum, this is one reality series destined to heat up our DVRs. — Jorge Rodriguez-Jimenez

2. MUSIC: Mary Lambert “Secrets”
You can’t help but admire watching Mary Lambert share it all in her new music video “Secrets.” She’s beautiful in her bright blue dress while she bares sensitive moments like coming out of the closet and sitting in a therapist’s chair. Yet she does it in a way that shows she confidently owns all these parts of her, and can make a happy song about it. Lambert’s smile is infectious, and it's tough not to be inspired to embrace your own dark secrets and say, “So what?” If you want to get a more in-depth look at Lambert and her ideas around oversharing, read The Advocate's 40 Under 40 post on her.Lynn De La Cruz
